How to convert VHS to MP4

  1. Before converting, please check the following and prepare.
    • You need your VHS tapes, a VCR, RCA cable, RCA to HDMI converter, and a capture card/board to transfer VHS to MP4 files.
    • Please check your capture card/board model and install the latest version of the capture device driver.
    • Download Bandicam.

  2. Connect the RCA converter and HDMI cable as shown below.
    • Connect the RCA cable to the 'OUT of the VCR (player)' and the 'OUTPUT of the converter'.
    • Connect an HDMI cable to the converter and the HDMI input on the capture card.

    • If your VCR has an S-Video port, you can use an S-Video cable and then plug it into the S-Video sockets on the VCR instead of the yellow composite jack for better video quality.

  3. Start Bandicam,
    • Choose "Device Recording" mode and click the "Device Settings" button, and select the capture device.
    • Click the "Format Settings" button, and select the video size, FPS and color space.
      (If you can't see the screen of the device, install a device driver and select another video size.)

    • Go to "Video" then "Settings" to select the video format.
    • Set the Bandicam video format

    • And then click the ' REC' button or press the hotkey (F12) to start/stop the recording.
