The Video settings tab allows you to control the technical specifications of your video and audio output, from file format to audio sources.

Video Settings

Video Format Settings

  • File Format: Choose the container format for your video file.
    • MP4: The most universal video format, offering the best compatibility for sharing and playing on any device.
    • MOV: Apple's native format, providing the highest quality for professional video editing on a Mac.
  • Codec: Choose the video compression format.
    • H.264: The long-standing industry standard, offering the highest compatibility across all devices and platforms.
    • HEVC (H.265): The modern successor to H.264. It provides the same video quality as H.264 but at a significantly smaller file size, making it ideal for high-resolution (4K/5K) recordings.
  • VBR/CBR: VBR boosts efficiency by adjusting the data rate based on video complexity, while CBR boosts stability by keeping the data rate fixed. Choose VBR for better quality and file efficiency in general recordings, or CBR for the predictable file size needed.
  • Quality: Adjust video quality from 0-100. Higher values improve fidelity but increase file size.
  • Max Resolution: Set the maximum video resolution for your recordings, ranging from HD (1280x720) up to 5K UHD (5120x2880).
  • FPS (frames per second): Higher FPS results in smoother video. 30 FPS is standard for TV and good for recording, while movies use 24 FPS. Bandicam supports up to 60 FPS.

Audio Format Settings

  • Codec: Bandicam uses the industry-standard Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) codec for all high-quality, compressed digital audio.
  • Quality: Select the audio bitrate, from Normal (128Kbps) for smaller files to Very High (320Kbps) for the best sound quality.

Speaker & Microphone

  • Record speaker audio: Enable this option to capture all system sounds and internal audio from your Mac.
  • Record microphone audio: Enable this option to record your voice. Once enabled, select your microphone device from the dropdown menu.
