Screen Recording Instagram Videos vs Browser Based Retrieval for Original Quality

I have been using Bandicam to record Instagram videos directly from my browser but noticed that screen recording always results in some quality loss compared to the original file. The output depends on my screen resolution and Bandicam settings rather than the actual source quality of the Instagram video. After some testing I found that using a browser based media retrieval tool to get the original file directly from the public post URL gives much better results than screen recording since you get the exact file Instagram originally stored rather than a re-encoded screen capture. Has anyone else compared these two approaches and found one more reliable than the other for preserving original video quality.

Re: Screen Recording Instagram Videos vs Browser Based Retrieval for Original Quality

Hello,

Screen recording captures video after it has already been rendered on your display, so the recording quality can be affected by your monitor resolution, scaling settings, and codec settings used during recording.

If you need to record playback using Bandicam, we recommend using Bandicam’s Lossless codec (or another high-quality codec setting) to minimize quality loss during recording.

Thank you.
