New settings for 60fps videos to youtube? CS:GO?

Mon Jan 26, 2015 5:44 am

Hey guys, I have some questions about 1080p60 for youtube. I used these settings on bandicam - avi, full size; 30 fps; motion jpeg; 90 quality; stereo PCM 48000 Hz. Tell me what happens if I use 30 fps recorded videos and then in movie studio platinium i set project properties as 60 fps? What should I change in settings to get better quality videos and 60 fps? I guess changing fps to 60 and quality to 100 is not enough... Can you recommend me a good codec? I don't mind huge file size, I want to edit it in move studio platinium suite 13 and upload it to yt. Thanks for any suggestions.

The video editing will simple duplicated existing 30 frames and bloat them into 60.
While it will say 1080p60 on YouTube it will still look like 30. There's absolutely no point in doing this.

I know ther's no point in doing this, I was just wondering what will happen. Kinda predictible. So, what do you recommend me for best quality to edit?

If you're planning to upload to YouTube then you can simply change the capture framerate to 60.
The video bitrate for both 1080p and 1080p60 is ~8Mbps. Uploading at higher bitrates will have a bit better image quality, but not by much.
Considering you're dropping your files into a video editor then Motion Jpeg is indeed recommended.
Alternative would be a hardware accelerated H.264 with keyframe set to 1.

From here: http://www.bandicam.com/support/tips/best-codec/ I assume that H.264 has better quality, and it 10 times smaller than motion JPEG. But what makes that codec an codec "for advanced users"?

Just because it has a settings screen. Optimal settings are VBR (and CPU+GPU if such option exists).
The size/quality depends on the quality and keyframes. The lower the keyframe interval the higher the size, most editing software has problems processing a file that has a keyframe interval above 1.

What's a keyframe? It's a complete picture of 1 frame. If you set the keyframe interval to 150 then it will make 1 entire picture and the next 149 frames will contain data about which region of the picture has changed. It decreases the output size, but like I said not all of editing software supports it.

Motion JPEG keyframe interval is defaulted to 1. That's why it has a big filesize.

Thanks for your reply. What about file format? .avi or.mp4?

I'm following these instructions: http://www.bandicam.com/support/tips/h264-fourcc/

@Edit: I searched on the Internet and I assume that if I am using h264 than i need mp4.

btw. my movie studio platinium suite 12 can't load h.264, any tips?

If you have the newest Bandicam version then you can change the container at any time (.avi or .mp4).
So your software didn't accept H.264 with 1 keyframe interval? Then you should stick to Motion Jpeg.

I noticed that h.264 looks smooth, but motion jpeg is like... more colorful, that's kinda weird. So you say that it's ok to stick to motion jpeg? Or should I search a solution to use h.264 with my software?

If the size doesn't matter to you then you can stick to it, as you're going to edit and reconvert it anyway.
