Sound on/off settings

Fri Feb 28, 2025 3:48 am

I use Bandicam to make little video tutorials, for friends and family. Sometimes with audio, sometimes without.
I'm using Version 8.0.1.2512

I noticed that adding a speaker from the toolbar also turns on "record sound" in the recording options. That's great, as that is super easy to forget. But when I disable that speaker/mic again, the option stays on.

I did some quick A/B testing and I couldn't really see a difference between two files with the option turned on or off. (If no device is selected)
I however, wanted to double check here. So that it doesn't bite me down the line somewhere. Does it add to the metadata of the file, or is there no downside of leaving the settings option on?

And also, is it a bug that it's left on, or is there a purpose to it unknown to me?

Hello Troik,

The "record sound" on/off setting doesn't really affect the actual recording when no device is selected.
So, you shouldn't notice any difference in the output files when toggling this setting.
Also, there's no downside to leaving the "record sound" option on in terms of metadata.

Thank you.

Thank you,
I appreciate it, that makes switching a lot easier.
