why does bandicam record in 4 channel mode ?

Wed Aug 14, 2024 6:04 pm

When recording audio with Bandicam the file comes out as a 4 channel (quad) file.

Anyone knows how to just get a normal stereo file ?

Hello Dr-Tolle,

We tested the 'Save audio tracks while recording (.wav)' option and SOUND FORGE Pro 18, but we were unable to recreate the issue.
We found that only two channels were displayed on the SOUND FORGE Pro 18 screen.
Could you let us know your sound recording settings?

Thank you.

Hi and thanks for the response. Its not something sound forge does as you can see I have now imported a fresh recording into Cubase. Ref screenshot. So it must be Bandicam that records the file in 4 channels somehow

Do you need some screenshots then please let me know.

Thanks - Thomas

Hello Dr-Tolle,

Thank you for getting back to us.
The function that saves audio as a WAV file captures data from the audio device exactly as it is, without any processing. So if the captured audio is in 4 channels, it's because your speaker settings are set to 4 channels.
Bandicam doesn't have a feature to forcefully downmix this to 2 channels.

Thank you.
